On Saturday 24th September 2016 at @10.15am 6 of us,Gary Atkinson, his sister Julie and her friend Lin,John O’Sullivan + Steve & Lin Grantham set off from the car park of the Seven Sisters Country Park,Seaford to start a 8-mile circular route following the South Downs way to Birling Gap and then inland to Friston Pond and the through Friston Forest which would take us back to our start point. The weather was kind to us and the first part of the walk to the cliffs above Cuckmere Valley seem to go uphill for ever (the 2 photos taken show us at that point),from there it was up and down some of the seven sisters which were challenging to a few of us especially Steve, however after a couple of hours and 5 miles later we reached Birling Gap for a comfort break and refreshments and took in the view from there,we then retraced our steps for a few hundred yards and then climbed again a little way going through farm fields the first one had a very large bull not far from the footpath and some of his harem  and the next one was full of sheep until it at last flattened out,by the time we reached Friston Pond,Steve had had enough (he was struggling with his legs )and watched the rest disappear into Friston Forest whilst he waited for the next bus to take him back to the Country Park, once back there he only had to wait for about an hour before the rest completed the route.Steve congratulated them all on achieving it ,all of us were tired but pleased that we had achieved ,in all we have so far raised £120-00 for the group’s kitty .Gary is already planning on doing another walk around March/April time in 2017 so look out for details.
