Sponsored Walk

Sponsored Walk

Sponsored Walk                          Saturday 24th September 2016

The THANCS Support Group creates an opportunity for patients and carers to meet others in a similar situation and share experiences.             The group is open for all patients and their carers in Sussex.   The walk has been arranged for the above date, after an idea by Gary Atkinson and between us have come up with a local, picturesque route  details as follows:   Route:  Seven Sisters Country Park – Cuckmere Haven – Birling Gap – East Dean – Friston – Friston Forest – Seven Sisters Country Park. Distance: About 8 miles we reckon about 4 – 5 hours – but on reaching East Dean if you feel you have had enough then you can catch a bus(12/13) back to the Park. Details of meet: Meet in the Seven Sisters Country park car park at @9.45am for a 10.00am leave,if coming by car it will cost £4 for the day,if coming by bus from either direction(Eastbourne or Brighton) there are bus stops right by the location. Facilities / Toilets: Tea rooms at the Country Park (start & finish),Birling Gap,East Dean village (Tiger Inn Pub). The Cuckmere Inn on Exceat Bridge at the end of the walk for a get together and a well earned drink. Walk details: There are some inclines(up & down) on this route, mainly footpath but also the last leg is through the forest so make sure suitable footwear and clothing are worn, check the weather forecast before. Map of walk: We will supply a map of the course at the meeting on September but if you want your own see the website South Downs Park Circular Walks. Why & How Much?: Why? — We need the funds to support the groups finances during the year,to help pay for our meetings,Xmas party and annual website costs. How Much ? – We need to be realistic with this so if we say a minimum of £20 per individual and £25 per couple and £30 per family. Either pay on the day or via a just giving page,(see website for details and link below) We will be taking a list of names and numbers at the start of the walk so that a)    we know who is taking part. b)    We have the same number at the end that we started with.
